About the group

Henri Cartier Bresson (1908-2004) is one of the greatest photographer ever.

“De tous les moyens d’expression, la photographie est le seul qui fixe un instant précis.” (Of all the expression means, photography is the only one which capture a precise instant)
Henri Cartier-Bresson en 1952.

This group is about the style of pictures he developped and called "instant décisif" : a magical mixture made of catching the crazyness of life into a graphical photographic moment.

With Robert Capa, David Seymour, William Vandivert and George Rodger, in 1947 he founded the famous photographer agency "Magnum"

If you like this view of photography, this is the place for you ;)

EARTH SCRIPTURES: Indian Fishermen 3

Indian Fishermen 3
Photo and Words by
Fishermen in a beach harbour in Kerala
People of the village are gathering around returning fishermen and their catchings.
One can also notice the christian cross around the neck of the fisherman showing,
if needed, how important religion identification is for people in India.

Dear Yardies,
For this week feature, the Filmie Team has decided to put some light on streets photos taken with old cameras.
The story of street photography starts in the late 1900’s. By that time, photos of street life and architecture were rather documentary than candid captures or decisive moments. Eugene Agtet then introduced street scenes presenting human characters as the main subjects of his photos.
Since then, our vision of street photography has evolved, and our material has changed. Films went from large formats to smallest ones, from black and white to colors. Our manual cameras have also become automatic as measuring the exposition was possible, to finally enter the digital age.
Still films survive. And analog cameras from older times are currently widely used in street photography.
To give you an overview of the potentiality of old – and most of the time cheap — cameras in street photography, we have selected photos of our members that have take

Cyclone a Pondichery

Reflections From The Street: Aaron

Hello Everyone,
Let me start by introducing myself, my name is Aaron - aaroffy, and Khuram - MARX77 has been asking me for a bit to write a regular journal here on TheStreetFactor. I am not sure where this journal will go but I intend to reflect on different aspects of street photography/photography and attempt to find connections to our daily lives. I hope you will find it interesting and enjoy it. As always I welcome comments. Not only do I love the dialogue but I find that my inspiration for future posts always come from this dialogue.
I thought that today would be as good as any to start at the beginning. Before any street photographer can begin their relentless search of that next decisive moment they had to have their inaugural journey to the camera; here is the story of mine:
I wish I could tell you a romantic story like the ones you hear from so many of the great photographers; where I grew up in a dark room and was taking pictures before I could walk but I
